Konobi's PvP Guide

PvP and YOU!
A general guide to class weaknesses

So, I'm not much of a PvP goer, honestly. Can't stand player vs player. The rush is a bit much for me. My hands start shaking, can't fully concentrate... My fingers tremble, and because of this, I often dash too much, or linger around with my head in the clouds.

But I'll tell you what, I'm a pretty good strategist, and I find ways to dodge attacks pretty easily. So, below are some tips to helping you win in PvP by dodging certain classes' attack.

Archer
Archer can be tough. Players with good computers and good framerate can knock out anyone with their Anti Air Shot. It can be tough to fight an archer solo, but not impossible. An archer's weakness, be he Hunter or Ranger, depends on attacks that have a range straight in front of them. Dashing to the sides of an archer, in the air or not, can help you dodge his attacks easily. AoE attacks like a ranger's "Tank" skill, or a Hunters Arrow Shower can be avoided if you run out of their range, especially Arrow Shower. The glyph on the ground appears before the arrows come down. Be careful staying in one place too often too. Archer classes are fast on their feet, and can catch up to you easily if you play defense instead. Ultimately, the best way to defeat any archer class is to dodge their attacks, get right up in their face and smack 'em around with some knock down moves, or stunning skills.

Magician
Magicians are a pain as well. Both classes, Acolyte and Battlemage, sport freezing skills that can end a match quickly, whether it's 1v1 or 5v5, or even Free For All. Acolytes can be a pain as well, due to their ability to heal almost anything done to them. The trick to beating an Acolyte with heal? Don't give them a waking chance to heal. Sounds simple, and contrary to popular belief, an Acolyte really isn't that strong. Sure they can freeze you and curse you as a frog, but those skills are both easily avoided by the intelligent player. They have mid range, and only work in front of the player, so if you attack from behind, or at a range, you're likely safe. Launching and stunning Acolytes is a must, and prevents them from healing. Now onto Battlemages... They can be tough, especially in large player vs player matches. Never, EVER keep a Battlemage out of your sight, or you will die. They sport Blizzard, a wide freezing skill that will stop you in your place, followed by Ball Lightning, a rapid hitting electrical attack that will drain your HP and keep you stuck in one place; Tornado, a skill that will launch you instantly into the air, and Magic Missile, the trump card, which will shave off 1/4 your HP even at lower levels. Here's the BM's weakness. Save for Tornado, each skill takes a good animation time frame to cast. Magic Missile's range is nullified if you're in the air or behind the mage, and Blizzard is easy to predict. Take your time and wait to strike...

Thief
Definitely having unique skills and high criticals can make either thief class hard to beat. Each can hide out of danger, and both have attack skills that hit many times, and that's a huge bonus. The more than can hit, the more times they can critical. Assassins generally have a good setup, and this is why they can be hard to beat. They turn invisible, which makes them impossible to find and hit. On the plus side, they have a never-missing skill with a short range that knocks you down. A couple of things to note. If you've got a keen eye, you can waste an Assassin's MP by watching the ground. Chances are you can see the Assassin dashing around, and if he jumps look for the plume of brown smoke. He can't attack without showing himself first, so play with him. Dash jump around until he decides to show himself. If you're unlucky and you're hit by his appearing attack, the first thing you should do is roll the direction away from the Assassin. I can't stress this enough, and I know it seems like a 'duh' answer, but an Assassin's Throwing Dagger is a strong, multi-hitting (thus, multi-critical) attack that will wear down your HP fast. Jesters, on the other hand, are one hit wonders that should be feared. However, Jesters rely solely on short ranged AoE attacks. Stay out of Melee range with a Jester, and you're fine. Counter with any wide-ranged, long ranged knock down skill you have and go in for the kill. Jesters have fairly low HP, so it won't take much to kill them.

Warrior
Warriors HP makes them tough. They generally have moderate to high HP, so it takes a bit more to kill them than other classes. Gladiators have Wrath of Earth, which is a ridiculously large frontal range that deals heavy damage and knocks you down. Being knocked into the air by a warrior is big no-no. Their Storm Blade is very, very strong, and can wipe out most classes easily. Warriors have both ranged and up close skills, but their main strength lies within knocking you into the air and using Storm Blade. Gladiators are a bit different though. I'm Coming Bro and I'm Gone Bro! are two very difficult attacks to dodge. Also noted that Gladiators have a debuff skill called Stumblebum, which lowers accuracy and other stats. This alone can change the course of battle. Try to stay out of their frontal range, like an Archer. Same with Knights. They've got this front rushing 'corkscrew' blade and shoulder rush which they can use very easily to knock you down and into the air for good damage with Storm Blade. Both are instant casting, so a general tip is to stay out of range. Also, many Knights choose to get a skill Impervion. If you notice a Knight isn't flinching from your skills, back away. If I'm not mistaken, Impervion is a toggle skill that drains MP slowly, so like an Assassin, you can toy with them to drain their HP. But like I said before most of their skills require them to be at melee range to be the most effective. Staying Behind a warrior is a great way to keep them in your sights. Most of their skills take a long time to finish due to their long animations, so prepping yourself with a good set of combos will help.

These are just general tips, and keep in mind that PvP is rather laggy and unpolished. Things may change in the future with class changes and bug fixes. Just because you use these tips doesn't mean you'll win in PvP. Each player has their own skill level, and responsive level in PvP matches. Again, these are just general tips for the player. Take them with a grain of salt.

Second Class Change Guide

So, you as a Dragonica player finally hit the magic level number of 20. You may be wondering what the proceedure is to becoming your next class as the methods have varied every test. Well fear no longer as the fourth Newbies Guide to Dragonica plans on detailing all there is to know about the class change, especially around the complicated level of Farrel.

It is required that you complete all hero quests up to the end of the Toto mission (Haven’t been able to confirm that, but most people finish it anyway by level 20). You must then seek out your classes trainer in the Port of Winds. You must accept one of the two given quests by him/her in regards to changing class. The classes that you can change into are:

Magician –> Acolyte OR Battlemage

Warrior –>Knight OR Gladiator

Thief –> Assassin OR Jester

Archer –> Hunter OR Ranger

[Information about these classes may be discussed in a future entry into the guide.]

Once you have chosen your class you will be given two missions to complete. Your first one is to visit one of the costal regions of the world (You can identify it by the sharks and crabs) and collect 20 class scrolls from any monster. Once completed, you have to do another 4 star mission on the Toto mission map, however this may be done as a group.

Afterwards, you are given a gas mask where you can undergo the final, and most challenging quest you have done so far, beating Farrel. If you are low level 20s then I highly recommend you do it as a group of 4 with lots of potions, since it is no simple feat.

[Safety Warning]

The use of the gas mask is recommended to prevent death from poisoning, which takes approximately 40HP every few seconds.

The enterance to Farrel’s Mission area is through the sewers, which is a task off of its own, as you must beat many different bosses to collect 5 keys in order to have a shot at killing him. From here on, you can either view the following youtube video of mine which explains most of Farrel’s instance with a few facts missing due to changes between Pre-CBT and CBT, or you can read on for my step by step walkthrough of the mission.

Step By Step

Step 1

Run across to the right, dodging all of the pools of poison. If you fall in, you will fall over and lost HP every few seconds. Continue right until you reach a ladder, which you must climb up to go to the second level. Head left and you should soon come across a red door.

Step 2

You must defeat Alvino Vegabond (Upgraded) and collect a key from him. Alvino Vegabond can be identified by its green tinge, while the others are darker blue in colour. Once defeated, leave the room and head left. Jump over the gaps in the floor until you reach a green door and enter.

[NOTE: To get in to the room to beat Farrel, the LEADER must have all the keys, irrespective of what keys others have. They are non-tradable as well]

Step 3

You must now defeat the Steamed Juju which is among the crowds of shark monsters patrolling the area. Once defeated, collect the second key and escape out of the same door. Head left again and jump over the gaps in the floor. Finally you can head upstairs for your next challenge.

Step 4

The next part is what most people find challenging. You must head right dodging the spikes coming from the ceiling, until you come to a very big gap in the floor. You will notice that there are platforms that move across the gaps. You must jump from platform to platform until you reach the other side, else you will fall back to either the first or second levels. Halfway through, you will come across a yellow door. Enter it.

Step 5

You must beat Chief Cook Kakanu whilst avoiding his allies which are mostly blue with evil smiley faces on their arms. Afterwards, collect the key and leave the room. Continue heading right, this time jumping over three moving platforms instead of two and head upwards.

Step 6

This is definately the most challenging part of the instance for most people. What you have to do is jump from ladder to ladder on the wall until you get to the top. I will let everyone figure out how to do this themselves unless you want to view the video on it. Here is a hint, you use more than just ladders on the wall. Once you make it through to the top, run PAST the blue door (It is empty) head left to the jumping platforms, Climb the wall using the Z button to jump from platform to platform until you reach the top. Jump across the gap in the floor you just climbed up and go through the purple door.

Step 7

Your 4th boss is Franken Doju who is similar to Toto and Tutu from the previous instances. Take him down and claim your 4th key. Once you exit the room, jump over the gap in the floor and head left. This time, jump down the gap in the floor and continue heading left until you reach the stairs. You have now arrived at your final floor. Dodge all the lasers until you reach the center of the room… notice how there is a door in the background? Enter through that door.

Step 8

You have arrived at your final mini-boss… the Bald Porky. Once you defeat him, claim the key, leave the room and head right. Once your team has assembled there, have the leader enter the room and all will follow. Then… you shall start the battle.

Step 9

Defeat Farrel. There is no one way to defeat him as there are so many variables such as level, number of party members, classes etc. Farrel attacks with a variety of diffferent attacks from all the different characters you have fought before, most often the most annoying from each of them. If you don’t succeed level up a little bit more, get more party levels or anything else to increase your firepower.

Good Luck Everyone!

Long's Easy S Rank Guide

Assembling the team
Don't try to solo any mission maps after Vega, since you probably wont be able to solo the boss unless your a mage. Even if your a mage you will probably have a hard time with it and end up only getting a B rank unless you are very good.

From level 1-20, your party should consists of:
1. A thief or 2 to earn the combo points (the combo points are shared at the end)
2. A mage to solo the boss
3. An archer to help solo the boss.

In my experiences, try to not have a warrior in your party unless the warrior knows what he is doing. In nearly every party I have been in, warriors usually hammer spam the mobs, thus killing the combos.

After you have assembled your team, make sure everyone has their pots, no use going in empty xD.

What's your role in the team?
Mage: It's simple really. Your job is to kill the boss. Spam normal attack, dodge the boss's attack and it is all over.
Archer: Your job is also to kill the boss however you also have to rake up those combo points.
Thief: The comboer. The party depends on you for the combo points. Basically, aerial frenzy all the mobs while the mage/warrior kills all the monsters you didn't manage to kill.
Warrior: Sadly, the warrior isn't much use before the 2nd job. Since they are a melee class, its harder for them to kill bosses. Also, since their Storm Blade is too strong, they end up only getting very few combo points. Usually the warrior in the party helps kill the boss by hammer spamming and cleaning up the mobs after the thief is done.

Tip's while being in the map
1. I'm sure everybody knows that 30 combos = 1 combo point. If your not a strong comboer, don't try over-comboing, if that make sense o.o. Break your combos into 30s and 60s. It doesn't matter who has the highest combo in the maps, it matters how high your combo points are.

2. Remember, the combos are shared. No use hogging all the combos and moving on without the group, leaving them to clean up the monsters you didn't manage to kill, especially if you don't rake up much combo points anyway.

3. Work as a team. I know this is kind of obvious but some people don't even get it. If a party member is doing insane Aerial Frenzies on a giant mob, don't go in and hammer spam/storm blade the mob. Not being biased against warriors here, they just have the biggest aoe attack in the first job.

4. Don't be scared to get hit. Having 10-20 damage points won't lower your grade much if you have over 30 combo points in total so don't be afraid to just get in there and rake up those combos.

5.Don't die. I know it's pretty obvious but somehow people manage to die. Maybe it's either they don't have any pots or they are just plain reckless. Dieing can dramatically change your grading, for example if you have over 50 combo points, 1 death could bring your grade form an S to an A.

Well that's all for now, I hope my guide will be useful to anyone not getting an S rank. Feel free to give me any feedback, this is the first guide I have written here.

Soul Crafting and Refining Guide

Soul Crafting and Refining are ways to improve your gear by either, increasing the grade, or upgrading its stats. Soul Crafting can also improve the base stats of the item, whilst Refining cannot.

An example of an item:

- Enchant Effect -
This a result of Refining.

- Options -
This is a result of Soul Crafting.

How to get Souls?

Do not drop from anything, nor awarded.
Only obtained from Dismantle-ing an item.
The skill is at the bottom left of the inventory.

How to get Armour Powder and Weapon Powder?

Both can be monster drops.
Both are given as awards.
Cannot be obtained in any other way.

Soul Crafting
Soul Crafting is very simply put, using souls to improve an item's grade.
This is an example taken from the in-game journal.

Regular > Advanced > Special > Artifact > Legend

In order to Soul Craft, simply find your local Soul Crafting NPC, stereotypically, Julie.

then comes the actual crafting stage, drag the item you want to craft to the center, and an insurance scroll for insurance.

Insurance means that if the item fails in any way, it will not be damaged/harmed. Damaged/Harmed refers to the item either a. Destroying itself, b. Not upgrading and using materials, or c. Downgrading.

Refining
Refining is almost the same as Soul Crafting, Soul Crafting uses souls, refining uses powders.

Each level of Refining increases the cost.
Level 1 - 1 dust
Level 2 - 2 dust
Level 3 - 3 dust
and so on and so forth.
Of course, like Soul Crafting, the higher the level, the more riskier it is.

In order to Refine, find your local Blacksmith, otherwise known as Davi.

then

Drag in your items like Soul Crafting, and use a scroll for insurance if you want.
